Man Found Shot To Death In Truck After Phoenix Crash, Police Say

Bruce Roanhorse, 43, crashed into several parked vehicles before attempting to ram an occupied truck, police say.

PHOENIX, AZ — A man is dead after a early-morning crash in north Phoenix escalated into a shooting Saturday, police said.

Bruce Roanhorse, 43, was behind the wheel around 4 a.m. when he struck multiple parked vehicles and other property near 7th Street and Alice Avenue, south of Townley Avenue.

The noise drew a nearby homeowner and his adult son outside. The son got into his parked truck to get a better look — and that's when Roanhorse reversed his vehicle directly toward him, according to Sergeant Jen Zak.

The son fired at Roanhorse, striking him. Phoenix Fire personnel later pronounced Roanhorse dead at the scene, Zak said.

The shooter, whose identity has not been released, was detained and questioned by police, officials said.

He was later booked on an outstanding felony warrant unrelated to the shooting, police added.

Whether he will face charges in connection with Roanhorse's death remains under investigation.
