Meet an “Amazing” Who Loves His Outdoor Gig

At 90, Ted Kuntz has twice-a-week volunteer pond gig at a Cottonwood elementary school.

Ted Kuntz, 90, loves working outdoors. He has found the perfect niche for himself as the volunteer garden-and-pond tender at Dr. Daniel Bright School in Cottonwood, AZ. He looks after the pond's filtration systems, maintains the health and safety of the pond fish and whatever else needs doing. Since the school’s students are primarily responsible for the actual garden, he only pitches in when necessary--like taking down dead tomato vines.

Ted found his current calling quite by accident. His daughter-in-law asked for his help some 10 years ago with some pond issues, and he was happy to do so. Since then, Dr. Daniel Bright School is his twice-a-week volunteer pond gig, which he thoroughly enjoys.
