Here are the top three stories today in Phoenix:

  1. In an effort to secure 50 additional voting locations, Maricopa County is asking facility owners to volunteer their spaces for the 2022 elections. Due to population growth and an expectation of an increase in in-person voting, the county is looking to enlarge its number of election spaces from 151 to 200 for the August primary and November general elections. (Phoenix Patch)
  2. A Labor Department report showed a staggering 7.9 % jump in inflation over the last 12 months ending in February, with an expectation that it could go even higher. However, the number was even higher for Arizona residents, eclipsing at 10.9 percent. This translated into significantly higher prices for food, clothes, housing, and gas. (Phoenix Patch)
  3. Approximately 300 to 400 refugees and migrants have arrived at the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport every day for the last several months, said Eric Everts, public information officer for the airport. Everts stated that many of the travelers don't have a travel itinerary, money, or basic necessities like food or diapers. In addition, he said the airport and its staff are not skilled or trained to provide the humanitarian care needed. (KTAR.com)
