Here are the top three stories in Phoenix today:

  1. Recent statistics from the Bureau of Labor Statistics showed that the number of women in the construction workforce in Arizona is on the rise. About 15.6% of the state's construction workforce is made up of women, a proportion that's second only to Washington D.C. The vice president of a Phoenix women-owned construction firm discussed the trend and how the firm is working to encourage more women to enter the industry. (KTAR.com)
  2. The City of Phoenix is facing criticism due to its plan to implement a "Clean Zone" in downtown Phoenix in the weeks leading up to the Super Bowl. The zone would make it illegal for people living in the zone to put up any signage unless they get approval from the city and the NFL. (12news.com KPNX)
  3. Governor-elect Katie Hobbs named a new director for Arizona's Department of Child Safety. Matthew Stewart will serve as the agency's fourth director and first Black director. (12news.com KPNX)
