Murphy School District Teachers Protest Proposed Pay Cuts
The district faces a $2.1 million budget deficit.

PHOENIX, AZ – Teachers at the Murphy School District are not happy and they arrived at Monday night's school board to make that clear. The district is considering cutting their pay by five percent and enforcing furloughs.
The district faces a $2.1 million budget shortfall.
Last month, the district was notified by the Maricopa County schools superintendent that they faced being placed in receivership.

On Monday, nearly half – 28 out of 60 – teachers called out sick though it's not known if that was a planned protest.
