Newborn, Delivered After Mom's Shooting Death, Dies

Police say he shot his pregnant girlfriend over alleged infidelity. The baby died a week after an emergency cesarean section.

PHOENIX, AZ — A week-old baby delivered by an emergency cesarean section, after his mother was fatally shot, has died, according to reports. The boy was pronounced dead on Tuesday.

Dwight Anthony Miles Jr., 36, is already facing one charge of first-degree murder after his girlfriend was found dead, by a gunshot wound to the head, in her car. Police say Chelsee Dennis, 29, was killed after an argument over alleged infidelity, Tucson.com reported.

After Dennis' baby boy was pronounced dead, detectives began working to add another charge of first-degree murder to Miles' docket. The AP reported the murder was on April 18.

Police say Dennis' 5-year-old daughter was in the car when her mother was shot. She was uninjured.

Miles is being held at the Maricopa County Jail.
