Nick Foles Back In Arizona: Could The Cardinals Get Him?

It wasn't that long ago that Foles, a former Wildcat, thought about quitting the game. Now he's a Super Bowl champion.

PHOENIX, AZ – Nick Foles went from being a possibly washed-up quarterback ready to quit the game to leading his underdog team to a Super Bowl victory over the New England Patriots. The question now is what will happen to Foles: will he stay with the Philadelphia Eagles or could he make a triumphant return to Arizona.

It's a potentially complicated situation for Foles, the Super Bowl MVP and the Eagles.

On one hand, he is the Super Bowl MVP after having stepped up when starter Carson Wentz went down with an injury.

On the other hand, he is Wentz's back-up and the Eagles have made it clear that he is their quarterback of the future.

The most likely scenario is that he stays in Philly. After all, he's under contract with them and at a cost of only $7.6 million – a real steal in today's NFL.

They could also use Foles to continue mentoring and backing up Wentz, who tore his ACL in December and may need more time to fully recover.

That said, now that Carson Palmer has retired, the Cards really need a starting quarterback. While playing for a Super Bowl champion team – that he led to being a Super Bowl champion team – might be appealing, Foles might want to be a full-tie starter again.

Foles does have a history in Arizona.

He played three seasons for the Wildcats, racking up 67 touchdowns to only 33 interceptions along with more than 10,000 yards as he completed 66 percent of his passes.

Several Cards – including David Johnson and Patrick Peterson – have said they'd love to see Foles back in the desert.

For now, though. Foles seems to be enjoying his moment in the sun in the cold of Philadelphia with a parade coming up in which he will be a featured star.
