Phoenix Coffee Shops Part Of Fast-Growing Industry

Looking into the growth of the coffee industry through local coffee shops

The love for coffee in the United States has boomed recently with new and exciting coffee shops opening at every corner. Coffee is an essential for 63% of Americans every morning according to the National Coffee Association. With over 24,000 coffee shops in the U.S., independent coffee shops are generating around $12 billion in annual sales according to E-Imports . With the coffee industry and popularity of coffee continuing to grow, many small business owners are starting to join in on the fast-growing coffee industry.

In the Phoenix valley, there are many new and exciting coffee shops opening with each shop having something special to offer. Many coffee shop owners are eager to showcase their love for coffee to their local community with their drinks. Driftwood Coffee Co. website shares, “It’s not just a coffee shop, it’s a community. The idea that we can create a space for people to drink, dine and exist together in is something we are proud to provide.”

Co-owner of Enroute Coffee and Tea House in Goodyear, Brittany Salazar shares, “I think it’s a social thing… and the coffee industry has done a really good job of accepting many different types of people into a family.” Enroute Coffee and Tea House is a place where people can take a break from their busy day life and stop in for their favorite cup of coffee.

“In specialty coffee I feel that social media has been a big driver and latte art has helped grow the coffee industry also people’s pallets for good coffee somethings that’s not overly roasted, and specialty grated.” Lance Linderman is co-owner of Driftwood Coffee Co. in Peoria.

According to the NCA blog, 70% of millennials consume specialty coffee. Specialty coffee is becoming very popular with the help of social media. There are over 133 million posts on Instagram that are captioned with #coffee and 3.1 million posts captioned with #coffeeart. Social Media allows users to tag the location of their favorite coffee shops which is bringing more attention into the latest coffee creations.

At Enroute Coffee and Tea House, they have a rotating menu that offers seasonal drinks their customers love. Salazar shares that the most popular drink items at the shop at the moment is seasonal drink bourbon pecan pie and their classic drink the cowboy. Over at Driftwood Coffee Co., Linderman shares that the most popular coffee at the moment is their honey lavender latte which is created with all-natural ingredients.

Driftwood Coffee Co. shop owners have recently opened their second shop, Reap and Sow Coffee which is located on 23rd Street and Indian School Rd in Phoenix. Enroute Coffee shop is currently in the process of opening their second shop. Both coffee shop owners are excited for the future of their shops and are looking forward into continuing being a part of the booming coffee industry.
