Phoenix Couple Charged In Recent Vehicle Burglaries, Mail Thefts
Mary Amanda Garner, 29, and James McCord, 28, are facing multiple felony charges, according to police.

PHOENIX, AZ—A Phoenix couple is facing multiple felony charges after police said they recently found evidence linking them to a recent rash of vehicle burglaries and mail thefts in the Cottonwood area.
According to the Cottonwood Police Department, an officer was on routine patrol when he spotted a black Dodge pickup backed into a parking space at a local motel in Cottonwood. He recognized it as matching a vehicle captured in surveillance footage where suspects used a stolen credit card to make purchases.
Police said the officer approached a woman, later identified as 29-year-old Mary Amanda Garner of Phoenix, sitting in the passenger seat of the truck. After talking with Garner, police said a man exited a motel room and approached them. He was identified as her boyfriend, 28-year-old James Thomas McCord, also from Phoenix. According to police, the truck she was in was reported stolen out of Tempe. In addition, police said McCord had numerous credit cards belonging to other people in his wallet that were determined to be stolen.

After getting a search warrant, police said they located several items that indicated they had been involved in vehicle burglaries and mail thefts. A large amount of mail from the Phoenix area was located in their possession along with mail from Sedona and the Verde Valley, police said.
Evidence linking them to a recent rash of vehicle burglaries in Cottonwood was also located. Officers said they also located heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

McCord and Garner were booked on numerous felony charges to include theft of a motor vehicle, burglary, possession of stolen property, fraudulent schemes and artifices, aggravated taking the identity of another, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of narcotic drugs, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
