“We know that more affordable housing and wrap-around services are the most straight-
forward solutions to end homelessness in Phoenix and across the nation. I welcome the announcement of our new incentive program for landlords participating in the Section 8 program, which will increase the number of units for residents to secure affordable, safe housing," said Mayor Kate Gallego. “This program brings us one step closer to becoming the city we want for ourselves, our children, and our future."
This bonus is subsidized with Federal CARES Act funding and is specifically for Phoenix landlords who make their properties available to voucher holders.

"Affordable housing for all residents remains a top priority for the City of Phoenix," said District 3 Councilwoman, Debra Stark. “The city's new incentive program will provide landlords a strong incentive to sign a Housing Assistance Payment contract, opening the door for additional housing options for residents with vouchers. This program is a win for all."
The landlord incentive will support the city's current efforts to place homeless voucher holders in rental units and also with eviction prevention efforts by encouraging landlords to continue to participate in Section 8.
The HAP contracts are valid for one year, which means that the residents with housing vouchers will be assured a place to live for at least 12 months.
The city is allocating $500,000 of Section 8 Federal CARES Act funding to this program. The incentive will be available until the funds are exhausted. It is estimated that the city will be able to execute approximately 300 new contracts per month.
This opportunity is only available for properties located within the Phoenix city limits.
