Seven months after closing to all walk-in customers, the Phoenix Police Public Records and Services Unit (PRSU) has announced new changes, impacting vehicle impound and fingerprinting services.

Effective immediately, PRSU will begin scheduling appointments for vehicle impound. This change is only for customers to pay fees and obtain release paperwork. All paperwork must still be submitted in an advance for review to impound@phoenix.gov.

PRSU announced it will discontinue fingerprinting services. Fingerprinting was temporarily suspended in April, but this change will now be permanent. Several private 3rd party vendors in and around the City of Phoenix conduct this service and can be found through a web search of “Phoenix fingerprinting services."

Based on the recommendation of health experts at the federal, state and local level, the Public Records and Services lobby located at 1717 E. Grant St., Ste. 100 remains closed to all walk-in customers, with public records, alarms and loud party services available online and via phone appointments only.

The Phoenix Police Department continues to receive regular updates on the COVID-19 health situation and will work with City leadership and the Maricopa County Health Department to make decisions about future changes that impact our officers and support staff and the community we serve.
