Phoenix Police Identify Knife-Wielding Man Shot By Cop
Police say he charged the cop with a knife, but she was able to break free and fire a shot, causing a non life-threatening injury.

PHOENIX, AZ — Phoenix police have identified the man who was shot by a police officer on Sunday, May 6, after charging her with a knife, police say. Steven Patrick Scheuer, 49, is alleged to have been hallucinating on drugs that night.
Phoenix police arrived at a home near 5300 N. 40th Drive around 11:30 p.m. Saturday after Scheuer's wife told them was on drugs, hallucinating and causing problems at a neighbor's party. Scheuer said he would stay inside and not cause any more problems.
Ninety minutes later, the cops were back. Scheuer's wife had called them again, saying he was walking around the neighborhood with a knife and a staple gun.

As the cops got out of their cruiser, Scheuer dropped the staple gun and approached them with the knife. He grabbed one cop and tried to stab her, according to police.
The cop, 24 years old with two years in the department, was able to push Scheuer off and fire a shot, hitting him, causing a non life-threatening injury.

He had dropped the knife, but tried to charge again. The cops detained him after a quick struggle. He was taken to the hospital, treated, and is now in jail, according to FOX10.
The Eagle reported Scheuer is being held on suspicion of two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, one count of aggravated assault on a police officer and one count of resisting arrest.
