Phoenix Police Make Arrest In Shooting Death, No Homicide Charges

Jose Sicairos Ibarra, 21, was arrested in connection with the Saturday death of Ildefonso Bustamante, 42, and booked on weapons charges.

PHOENIX, AZ —Phoenix police have announced an arrest in connection with an early Saturday shooting death in the city, though the suspect has not been charged with murder.

Jose Sicairos Ibarra, 21, has been identified as allegedly being involved in the shooting death of 42-year-old Ildefonso Bustamante, whose body was found next to an apartment complex near 32nd Street and Sheridan Street, police said.

Phoenix police said Ibarra has been booked for misconduct involving weapons.

According to police, at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to a call for service after a witness located the body of Bustamante next to the apartment complex.

The PPD said that homicide detectives conducted an investigation and learned that the shooting had taken place at around 2:20 a.m. while the victim interacted with multiple subjects at a strip mall less than a block away.

The investigation remains ongoing, police said.
