Here are the top stories in Phoenix today:

1) The City of Phoenix is offering a $2,500 hiring incentive for two mechanic positions.

The roles will be with the Public Works Department where they will maintain and repair more than 7,000 pieces of equipment in the city.

2) Like to eat plants? Phoenix Vegan Restaurant Week comes back for a second year.

The event will feature vegan-friendly dishes by both well-known vegan spots and surprising participants. The event runs Sept. 11-18.

3) Consular Entrepreneurship Program helps Mexican women start businesses by connecting them with mentors, teaching them to create their own business plans, and more.

"It's very difficult to be a woman and a single mom," said Seidy Pachego, a single mom who used to own a Mexican restaurant in Phoenix. "It's very difficult to advance, really because of the language. The ones who usually succeed in business are men. But I've never thrown in the towel. I know I have to keep going."

4) From carriers and clerks to assistants, the U.S. Postal Service is looking to fill 400 positions in metro Phoenix area by hosting a job fair.

The job fair will be from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9, at the El Zaribah Shrine Auditorium. The starting pay ranges from $17.32 - $27.52 per hour.

5) Spirit Airlines ups competition with Frontier by adding new Kansas City-Phoenix flights.
Spirit's flights between Phoenix and Kansas City will begin Nov. 7.

"We listened to our Kansas City guests and are excited to deliver more convenient options to vacation destinations in the Southwest," said John Kirby, Spirit's vice president of network planning.
