Police ID 2 Slain Men In South Phoenix Shooting

Police released the identities of two men killed in a shooting Monday. A third victim is in the hospital and expected to survive.

PHOENIX, AZ — Phoenix police released the identities of two men killed in a Monday shooting in the southern part of the city. Ricky Elam, Jr., 35, and Ja'Cory Ranger, 28, were killed soon before 5 p.m. in a home on the 5600 block of South 13th Place, AZ Central reports.

The Phoenix Fire Department responded to the home to find Elam and Ranger critically wounded and were pronounced dead at the scene. A third victim in the shooting had been taken to an area hospital, and is expected to survive.

Sgt. Vince Lewis of the Phoenix PD said there were other people at home at the time of the shooting, but they fled.
