Pregnant Woman And Newborn Baby Die In Phoenix Two-Vehicle Crash
Police said a woman late in her pregnancy and her infant died after a two-vehicle crash late Friday night.
PHOENIX, AZ — A pregnant woman and her newborn baby have died following a two-vehicle crash near Loop 101 and 19th Avenue this weekend, Phoenix police said.
Officers responded around 11:32 p.m. June 20 to the area, where they found a woman who was far along in her pregnancy in critical condition.
Phoenix Fire Department crews took her to a hospital, where medical staff delivered the baby. Both mother and child were both pronounced dead.

The male driver of the same vehicle was also taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the second vehicle stayed at the scene and was not injured.
Police said that driver was evaluated for impairment and showed no signs of it.

According to preliminary information, the first vehicle failed to stop for a red light and collided with the second vehicle, which was traveling eastbound on Beardsley Road.
Detectives from the Phoenix Police Vehicular Crimes Unit are now leading the investigation. No names, ages or potential charges have been released.
As of Monday, police have not shared additional details about what led up to the crash.
