Here are the top three stories in Phoenix today:
- Arizona ranks fifth in the nation (over 3 percent of the workforce) for the highest rate of people quitting their jobs, with an average of 107,000 people leaving their jobs each month between July and October 2022, according to a report by Créditos en USA. The analysis used data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and found that Alaska had the highest rate of people quitting at just over 4 percent, while New York had the lowest rate at nearly 2 percent. (ABC15 Arizona in Phoenix)
- Kaboom, a national organization that seeks to eliminate "play space inequity," is partnering with local schools and businesses to build playgrounds in areas where access to playgrounds has been historically limited. Research by the organization shows that children from lower socioeconomic groups and communities of color are more likely to lack a decent place to play. Loma Linda School in Phoenix partnered with Kaboom to fund and build a playground for its fifth- through eighth-grade students who previously only had a field and a basketball court to play on during recess. - O'Neil Park in nearby Glendale has been hit by vandals five times since November. Damage has been reported on playground equipment and sports courts, including extensive burn damage to the new Fiesta Bowl Basketball Court and broken basketball baseboards, as well as newly donated equipment being damaged. In a recent community meeting, authorities asked the public to report any suspicious activity in the park and are working to address the vandalism spike. (Arizona's Family)
