Here are the top 3 stories today in Phoenix:
- A teenage girl was killed and eight other people were injured in a north Phoenix strip mall shooting, according to Phoenix police. The shooting occurred around 1 a.m. on Saturday morning near 10th Avenue and Hatcher Road and reportedly began after an argument broke out among a group gathered at the strip mall. Reports indicate that the victims were between 17 and 24 years old, and two were brought to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Hatcher Road was closed from 12th Avenue to 7th Avenue while police investigated the area. (Phoenix Patch)
- A new mural in downtown Phoenix entitled "Tomorrow needs you" wants to let the community know they are not alone in their mental health struggles. The 26-foot mural on the side of the Arizona Center parking structure was made in May by Skye's The Limit Foundation and Neighborhood Ministries in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month. A QR code that provides resources for mental health awareness is also included within the mural. "We can all come together to create something that really promotes positivity," said Jesse Yazzie with the Skye's The Limit Foundation. (FOX 10 Phoenix)
