Here are the top three stories today in Phoenix:
- A woman was shot to death and a man barricaded himself in a house near 38th Street and Shea Boulevard on Thursday. 54-year-old Amy Malobicky was pronounced dead in front of her house by police, who also found a currently unidentified man barricaded inside the house for several hours. Police have taken this man into custody, but no further information is currently available as an investigation is underway. (Phoenix Patch)
- The Phoenix Zoo has welcomed its newest Masai giraffe, Luna! The calf was born on Feb. 7 and is now out and about to meet visitors. Luna is staying close to her mom, Sunshine, for now, but given the social nature of giraffes, the zoo expects she'll be out making friends in no time! (Arizona's Family)
- A $50K Powerball ticket was sold at a north Phoenix convenience store. An unidentified Phoenix resident is now $50,000 richer after stopping by Superpumper on Cave Creek Road. If you or someone you know bought a ticket there this week, make sure they double-check to see if they are the winner! (FOX 10 News Phoenix)
