PHOENIX, AZ — The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office has arrested a suspect in connection with a nearly four-year-old murder case. Last week, authorities arrested Tony Tyrone Reed, 60, after his DNA profile matched that found on 39-year-old Sabrina Rollins, who was discovered shot to death on Nov. 9, 2016, near 107th and Southern avenues in Maricopa County.

According to authorities, Rollins had been released from the Lower Buckeye Jail less than two days before her body was discovered.

A probable cause statement for Reed said that Rollins was known to be a prostitute and drug user, KPNX reported. It also said that when Rollins was found, she was only wearing socks and shoes, was on her knees and bent forward, with her head on a concrete barrier.

Police submitted a sexual assault kit to the Arizona Department of Public Safety Crime Laboratory, and while a DNA profile was created from the sample, no suspect was identified at the time of the murder.

In 2019, authorities conducted a familial DNA analysis and identified Reed as a potential suspect. Authorities later obtained a search warrant for a DNA sample from Reed. The DNA test results came back April 23, showing that Reed's DNA matched the DNA found on the victim.
