Terri Wattawa on "The Best Apps For Teachers"

In this article, we will look at some of the most useful apps for educators to use in their classrooms

The classrooms and the teachers of today require the best new technologies to best educate students. This is the first generation that has grown up in a world where things like tablets and smartphones are the norm. That is why the following list of three of the best apps for teachers to use for their classrooms has been compiled. The educational apps, in no particular order, are as follows:

  • Kahoot
  • Google Classrooms
  • Remind

Kahoot
In the modern ag, there always appears to be a struggle between teachers and students with regards to smartphones, laptops and tablets. Teachers argue that these devices serve as a distraction while students claim they are learning tools to be utilized. The app Kahoot finds common ground among the opposing sides and allows students to use their smartphones to answer trivia questions related to the course material. Not only will the students be learning and retaining course material in a fun way, but they are also able to utilize the technology that is so ingrained in their daily lives.

Google Classroom
One of the most effective ways for teachers to maintain an effective classroom is by staying organized. Google Classroom helps teachers do this and so much more. For example, this service allows teachers to save paper by posting assignments online as opposed to handing out and then collecting assignments each night. This eliminates the possibility that a student would ever lose an assignment and be unable to receive credit for it. Videos can also be posted on the classes page for students to watch as homework. By keeping every aspect of a class in one centralized and organized place, classroom efficiency can skyrocket, and more time can be spent actually learning the material.

Remind
This app is a great way for teachers to ensure that students are always aware of assignments and upcoming events in class. Messages can be sent to both students, as well as the parents of students to ensure communication is properly utilized. Teachers can even set up automated messages that can go out at predetermined times so that nothing is left to chance. A simple reminder is sometimes all that it takes to ensure a student completes their work on time. Read receipts also allow teachers to know who has and hasn’t seen specific messages and individual students who do not see them can be addressed in class.
