Tossin' Away ALS Gets $10K Reward

The award includes a $10,000 donation that will go directly to Tossin' Away ALS, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing hope and happiness for ALS patients and their families by helping them create positive memories together, raising awareness, and funding research efforts to find a cure.

After witnessing the emotional and physical effects that ALS has on a loved one, Jesse Haws, Owner of Haws Insurance Services, created Tossin' Away ALS. Since the start, Haws’ mission has been to serve the people in Arizona that have an ALS diagnosis, by providing family members and close friends with a break from difficult day-to-day tasks and replacing it with joyful experiences.

Since 2014, Tossin' Away ALS has raised more than $80,000 to help families spend time with their loved ones. The $10,000 Make More Happen Award donation will benefit 3-4 families currently battling the ALS diagnosis and not only provide support during a difficult time but also help these families experience happiness together.

“My family was so focused on battling ALS with my grandfather and helping him survive that we did not take the time to enjoy the life we had left with him,” said Haws. “We are truly grateful to Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance for this Make More Happen Award, it’s very rewarding to watch other families smile together and forget about the fatal disease they are fighting – it’s life changing!”

Throughout 2020, Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance will select a total of 34 independent agents nationwide for a Make More Happen Award donating up to $340,000 to the nonprofits they support. Agencies became eligible for the award by submitting an application demonstrating their commitment to a specific nonprofit, along with photos of a project they worked on.
