Here are the top three stories today in Phoenix:

  1. Following a traffic stop, Phoenix police arrested two people in possession of fentanyl pills and weapons. 46-year-old Christopher Onei Consales and 32-year-old Natasha Rae McMurrian were arrested along with 45,000 fentanyl pills and $101,364 in cash being seized. After obtaining a search warrant for the suspects' home, Police recovered various other drugs, nine firearms, and a stolen motorcycle. (FOX 10 News Phoenix)
  2. The first STEM prep school for children with autism officially opens in South Phoenix. Science Prep Academy founder Kenneth Mims believes capping enrollment to twenty students will provide a more individualized environment for attention and support. Mims has also launched Neurodiversity Education Research Center to operate the new Science Prep Academy along with supporting other opportunities for children with autism. (The Arizona Republic)
  3. The City of Phoenix will receive up to half a million dollars to plant trees across the city. The new trees will be used in an effort to fight the extreme heat that Phoenix is known for. The trees aim to be planted in an equitable way across the entire city. (Signals AZ)
