Here are the top 3 stories in Phoenix today:
- A fundraiser was held over the weekend to benefit the war in Ukraine. Ukrainian Americans living in Phoenix organized an art sale over the weekend and all proceeds will go directly to the people of Ukraine. The art sale was held over two days at the Phoenix Center for the Arts. Many local artists donated their art to be sold upon hearing about the event. Organizers are also asking those who want to help to make calls to local lawmakers to ask that more help be sent to Europe. (FOX 10 News Phoenix)
- The historic Lost Leaf art bar has found a new owner. This weekend, the previous owner and drummer, Eric Dahl, announced over Twitter that the Lost Leaf has been "passed onto new ownership." This announcement follows the news that he planned to sell Lost Leaf back in February. The name of the new owner has not yet been released. (The Arizona Republic)
- In another effort to help Ukrainians, a Phoenix mother hosted a neighborhood yard sale over the weekend to help reunite a Ukrainian hockey player with family. The mother and her family hosted the teenage hockey player Nikita Protsenko in 2015. While Protsenko is in Canada for hockey, his family from Ukraine have since fled to Poland. If you'd like to donate to help reunite the family, the link can be found here. (Arizona's Family)
