Here are the top three stories in Phoenix today:

  1. For New Year's Eve revelers planning to spend the night on the town, the Valley Metro transit system will be offering free rides from 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31 to 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 1. Rides will be free on buses, the light rail, and streetcars. (KTAR.com)
  2. The Phoenix Fire Department offered tips that residents can use to reduce the risk of fires this holiday season. The fire department demonstrated how quickly a Christmas tree can go up in flames if not disposed of properly. (12news.com KPNX)
