Here are the top three stories in Phoenix today:
- For New Year's Eve revelers planning to spend the night on the town, the Valley Metro transit system will be offering free rides from 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 31 to 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 1. Rides will be free on buses, the light rail, and streetcars. (KTAR.com)
- The Phoenix Fire Department offered tips that residents can use to reduce the risk of fires this holiday season. The fire department demonstrated how quickly a Christmas tree can go up in flames if not disposed of properly. (12news.com KPNX)
- A family from nearby Peoria was forced to opt for a more than 50-hour bus ride to get home to Arizona from Ohio after Southwest Airlines canceled their flights home.
