The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Phoenix.

Happy Friday everyone! Merichelle Norwood here to fill your inbox today with the top stories in the Valley of the Sun.
Today's weather: High: 93 Low: 76.
📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Phoenix who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.
I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our Phoenix Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.
Here are the top stories in Phoenix today:
1) Looking for fun events this weekend? Here's a round-up of the best things to do in Phoenix this weekend.
Happenings include a vegan social and ABBA dance party.

2) Sauvage Bottle Shop is named one of the best wine shops in the nation, according to Wine Enthusiast.
The shop is located in The Churchill. Sauvage sources 200 + rotating wines and offers a monthly bottle subscription service called "The Wine Well."
3) Phoenix's 'Cool Pavement' program is expected to cool down 11 more neighborhood heat islands this year. The program applies a special coating to asphalt that reflects the sun's rays and makes the asphalt absorb less heat.
"When you have that urban heat island impact, the real impact of that is that the hard surfaces, your pavement surfaces, retain that heat and don't release it," said Kini Knudson, director of street transportation.
4) Fresh Start Women's Foundation, a Phoenix nonprofit, receives over $500,000 to train women for nontraditional careers.
The foundation supports women who are in construction, technology, finance and manufacturing, and other underrepresented fields.

5) KaiPod Learning offers new, self-paced learning for students, and offers an alternative to traditional schooling in Glendale, Gilbert, and Scottsdale.
"We pride ourselves in offering a personalized approach in an imaginative, professional environment that offers learners the opportunity to thrive given their individual needs academically, socially and personally," said KaiPod Learning CEO Amar Kumar.
