Woman Discovered Dead After Hiking Camelback Mountain

The woman, who was visiting Phoenix from out of town, was found Friday, according to a report.

PHOENIX, AZ — A woman was found dead on Camelback Mountain on Friday after the person she was hiking with reported her missing earlier in the day.

At 1 p.m., a man called 911 after returning from a hike on Camelback Mountain, the Arizona Republic reported. He told authorities the woman he was hiking with had become overheated and decided to turn back. The pair agreed to meet in a parking lot, but when the man returned after completing his hike, the woman was nowhere to be found.

The woman, who was in her 30s, was found at 4:40 p.m., the Republic reported. She was located off the Echo Canyon Trail adjacent to a home on the northeast side of the mountain. The woman was found unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene.
