Yuma senior living community donates $6,000 to support veterans
River Valley Estates Senior Living and Memory Care donates portion of move-in fees to Disabled American Veterans (Chapter 11)

As part of its mission to give back to the community it serves, River Valley Estates Senior Living and Memory Care donated 50 percent of the community’s total move-in fees from November and December 2018 to a local veterans’ organization. The community’s team members and residents selected the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 11 (DAV) and presented a $6,000 check to Commander Danielle Job on Feb. 14.
The DAV empowers veterans by ensuring they and their families can access the benefits available to them. Members work on their behalf on Capital Hill and educate the public about the sacrifices veterans and their families have made and how they can help veterans successfully transition back to civilian life.
According to River Valley Estates’ Administrator, Daniel Garcia, the donation aligns with the community’s mission of Caring People, Serving People, Improving Lives, both at River Valley Estates and within the local community.

“The donation is our way of thanking veterans for their sacrifice and service,” said Daniel Garcia, administrator at River Valley Estates. “We selected the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 11 because we see how valuable their programs and services are to injured veterans and families in the area.”
“Our chapter is overwhelmed by the generosity of River Valley Estates in Yuma. This donation will be used to help our local veterans from filing a claim with Veterans Affairs, veteran financial shortcomings and aid in supporting the DAV vehicles providing transportation from Yuma to Tucson for medical appointments,” said Danielle Job, Commander DAV Louis Levy Chapter 11. “I must also comment on the superb staff and wonderful facilities at River Valley Estates here in Yuma-they have raised the bar for Senior Living in our area.”

River Valley Estates is one of five Mission Senior Living communities. Each community selected a local veterans’ organization to receive the donation. Together, the communities donated a combined $14,250.
“The people who live and work at our communities are cut from the same patriotic cloth. We are grateful to our nation’s heroes, and want to support organizations that help improve their lives,” said Darryl Fisher, president of Mission Senior Living. “Caring People, Serving People, Improving Lives is a mission that extends beyond our communities and into the neighborhoods we serve.”
