• U of A mining lab hosts DOE official amid workforce push (tucson.com) — UA's San Xavier Underground Mining Laboratory in Sahuarita just hosted a top U.S. Department of Energy official, underscoring its national role in training miners and testing technology. The lab is expanding with new federal funding and industry partnerships that could strengthen Southern Arizona's mining workforce and economy.
   

• UA Mining program gets Energy Dept. Grant (kgun9.com) — Just outside Sahuarita, the University of Arizona's training mine is getting a $1.7 million federal grant to boost copper extraction research and hands-on education for mining engineers. Students say job prospects are excellent as the Energy Department leans on Arizona's mining expertise for future technology and national security needs.
