Scottsdale Job Market Bucks National Hiring Slowdown, Report Finds

SCOTTSDALE, AZ — While hiring slowed across much of the country in early 2026, Scottsdale was moving in a different direction.

A new report from Monster identified Scottsdale as one of a handful of midsize cities posting stronger quarter-over-quarter hiring growth in the first quarter of 2026, a notable distinction as major metros like Dallas, Houston and New York continued to dominate overall job posting volume.

The Monster Q1 2026 Market Report, which tracks employer hiring demand, candidate search activity and hiring trends across cities nationwide, found that many sectors experienced a post-holiday slowdown following strong year-end activity in 2025.

Scottsdale was among a short list of midsize markets that saw growth anyway, alongside Tucson; Durham, N.C.; West Palm Beach, Fla.; and Lubbock, Texas.

Nationally, healthcare led employer demand. Registered nurse topped the list of most-posted job titles, followed by physical therapist, licensed practical nurse, occupational therapist and radiology technician.

Truck driver and sales representative were identified as growing-demand roles, according to the report.

Job seekers, however, were largely searching elsewhere. The most searched titles included warehouse worker, customer service representative, delivery driver and administrative assistant.

Monster flagged that the gap between where employers are hiring and where candidates are focusing their searches continues to widen, with licensed healthcare and specialized positions in highest demand while applicants gravitate toward entry-level and frontline work.

The report described the broader labor market as active but more selective and uneven than in previous years, with longer hiring timelines and increased competition across many roles.

Monster advised job seekers to target applications more strategically, develop in-demand skills and stay alert to scams, particularly in remote and entry-level job searches.
