Scottsdale's Property Tax Rate Is Up For Discussion: Here's What To Know.

A June 9 public hearing and June 23 vote are planned on Scottsdale property tax and streetlight district levies.

SCOTTSDALE, AZ — Scottsdale homeowners and residents have two opportunities this month to follow and weigh in on proposed changes to the city’s property tax levy and Municipal Streetlight Improvement District taxes.

The first comes tonight. The Scottsdale City Council is holding a formal public hearing on the proposed levies at its June 9 meeting, giving residents an early chance to comment before any votes are taken.

The second comes later this month. The council is scheduled to meet again at 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, at Scottsdale City Hall’s Kiva Forum, 3939 N. Drinkwater Blvd.

City members are expected to consider whether to formally adopt the new tax rates and levies by ordinance. If approved, the rates would take effect for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2027.

What’s Being Proposed

The public notice for both meetings references a proposed increase in the city’s primary property tax levy alongside proposed decreases in the streetlight district levies.

The notice does not specify the dollar amounts, but the city posted detailed schedules and supporting reports on its website on April 22.

Residents who want to review the specific figures before either meeting can find those documents at ScottsdaleAZ.gov.

How to Watch or Participate

The June 23 meeting will be broadcast on Cox Cable Channel 11 and streamed live at ScottsdaleAZ.gov.

Residents can find agenda details and information on how to submit public comments on the city’s website under “Agendas & Minutes.
