SCOTTSDALE, AZ — Scottsdale kids will get a chance to climb into fire trucks, check out police cars and explore construction vehicles at a free, sensory-friendly Touch-a-Truck event this weekend.
Bierman Autism Centers will host the event from 10 a.m. to noon this Saturday at its Scottsdale center at 8444 N. 90th St. #130.
Children will be able to get up close to large vehicles, explore them and meet the people who drive them, according to the event announcement.
The event was designed specifically for children with autism ages 2 to 9, although all are welcome to attend.
The morning also will include hands-on activities and games designed for different ability levels, along with snacks. Families can tour the Scottsdale center, meet staff and learn more about Bierman Autism Centers.
A quiet area will be available throughout the event for children who need a break from the activity. The space is intended to provide a calmer environment where children can take a break and explore at their own pace.
The community-helper-themed event will give children opportunities to climb into vehicles, look around and, when possible, honk the horn.
Bierman Autism Centers said the event is free, but space is limited and families should RSVP in advance to reserve a spot.
The Touch-a-Truck event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 15, at Bierman Autism Centers, 8444 N. 90th St. #130 in Scottsdale.
