New Whole Foods Sets Sights On Fall Opening Near Old Town Scottsdale

SCOTTSDALE, AZ — A new Whole Foods Market near Old Town Scottsdale is getting closer to opening, and the grocery chain is now hiring for its new store at Indian School and Miller roads.

The store is targeting a fall 2026 opening at 7628 E. Indian School Road, in the former Fry's Food Store location at the Downtown East shopping center.

The 35,222-square-foot store will be the second Whole Foods Market within Scottsdale city limits, joining the existing location near Mayo Boulevard.

Whole Foods has not announced an exact grand-opening date, but the retailer is already recruiting employees for the new location.

When it opens, the store is expected to offer a full selection of groceries along with prepared foods and specialty departments. Shoppers can expect meat and seafood counters, a specialty cheese department, a bakery and grocery aisles featuring organic and locally sourced products.

The store also will include Whole Body, Whole Foods' health and wellness department, as well as beer and wine and an in-store bar.

The new location will give residents in south Scottsdale another full-service grocery option near Old Town and replace a grocery store that previously occupied the prominent Indian School Road site.

Whole Foods says its food standards prohibit hydrogenated fats, high-fructose corn syrup and more than 300 other ingredients. Its body-care standards exclude more than 240 ingredients, including phthalates, parabens and microbeads.

Once the store opens, Amazon Prime members will be eligible for weekly discounts on selected items and an additional 10% off hundreds of storewide sale products. Customers also will be able to use the Whole Foods Market or Amazon app to pay in the store.

Grocery pickup is expected to be available shortly after the location opens.

An exact opening date for the new Scottsdale Whole Foods has not yet been announced.
