1. Free Scottsdale Rewind Party To Celebrate City's 75th Anniversary: What To Know (patch.com) — Scottsdale residents are invited to a free "Scottsdale Parks and Rec Rewind" party at Scottsdale Civic Center on Sept. 19 to celebrate the city's 75th anniversary. The evening will feature decade-themed music, games, crafts, historic exhibits and family activities, plus food vendors and a cocktail garden. Organizers hope neighbors will reconnect while revisiting the people and places that shaped Scottsdale over seven decades.
2. Battery Fire Triggers Hazmat Response At Scottsdale Trash Facility (patch.com) — A lithium-ion battery fire at Scottsdale's Solid Waste Transfer Facility near Loop 101 and Hayden Road triggered a first-alarm hazmat response, but no injuries were reported. Scottsdale firefighters and hazmat crews managed the blaze in a debris pile while monitoring for toxic fumes. Officials are urging Scottsdale residents not to throw rechargeable batteries in household trash or recycling because of the serious fire risk.
3. Scottsdale nonprofit eases isolation for adults with disabilities (azfamily.com) — A Scottsdale nonprofit called Lexie's Ranch is giving teens and adults with developmental disabilities a place to connect through therapeutic, sensory-friendly outdoor experiences. Founded by a local mother who saw few options after school ends, the ranch focuses on reducing isolation, building confidence, and offering families a much-needed community resource in Scottsdale.
4. Eva Garcia, accused of bringing gun into Scottsdale police station, faces lengthy legal process (abc15.com) — A 24-year-old woman accused of bringing a handgun into a Scottsdale police station and threatening two people is now facing a lengthy, complex court process in Maricopa County Superior Court. She has pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault and kidnapping, while attorneys review extensive surveillance and body camera footage and weigh any future plea discussions.
