Hi all. It's me, Helen Eckhard, your host of the Scottsdale Daily — back in your inbox with everything you need to know about what's happening in town these days.

First, today's weather:

Mostly cloudy. High: 97 Low: 84.

📢 I'm looking for business owners and marketers in Scottsdale who want to build awareness, connect with customers and increase sales.

I have a limited number of sponsorships available to introduce our Scottsdale Daily readers to local businesses they need to know about. If that's you, then I invite you to learn more and secure your spot now.

Here are the top three stories today in Scottsdale:

  1. Scottsdale's Dakota Apartments were evacuated after reports of a gas leak on Tuesday morning. Scottsdale and Phoenix hazardous materials units responded to the property on N. Thompson Peak Parkway to secure the gas. The leak was reported coming from the apartment's pool heater located underground. The Scottsdale Fire Department is working with Southwest Gas to determine the leak's cause. (Daily Independent)
  2. Scottsdale's Maureen Carlson has been appointed as the Chapter Lead for the National Home Watch Association's Arizona Chapter. The chapter includes all members within the state of Arizona. The association checks a property for obvious issues in plumbing, electrical, HVACA, and more. Click to learn more about the association. (Your Valley)
  3. Maricopa County will no longer be using Sharpie pens for elections. The decision was made in response to the Sharpie conspiracy theory that plagued the aftermath of the 2020 election. The county will now be using Pentel brand felt-tip pens. The county ordered 4,000 of the new pens for the county's Vote Centers. (12 News)
