is time one again to promote our annual Pond Tours.&nbsp; The tours are hosted
by private homeowners that have ponds in their yards.&nbsp; Many ponds include
water features, sculptures, Koi and other fish.&nbsp; Everyone is invited to
participate and there is no fee.&nbsp; The website will have maps to the ponds
on the tour.&nbsp; The East Valley tours this year will be on Saturday, May 2nd from 9 AM to 4 PM open house style.

U.S. Egg, the Valley’s ultimate breakfast and lunch spot, is teaming up with local nonprofit Heart of Infinity Rescue to host a free adoption and fundraiser event taking place on Saturday, May 2, at U.S. Egg’s North Scottsdale location. Attendees can meet adoptable dogs while enjoying breakfast and lunch, including dog-shaped ‘pupcakes’, along with free treats for pups on the restaurant’s dog-friendly patio, including puppuccinos and bacon pupsicles. The event raises money for Heart of Infinity Rescue, a foster-based nonprofit in Scottsdale, focused on saving dogs of all breeds from euthanasia and helping them find their permanent home with the support of the local foster network. Guests who donate at the event will also receive a dollar-for-dollar matched U.S. Egg gift card, valid at any of the restaurant’s six Valley locations. State Forty Eight T-shirts and Pickle + Puppies pickleball paddles will be available for purchase or raffle, with proceeds benefiting Heart of Infinity Rescue.

Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West

A bold and trailblazing Western that reshaped Hollywood storytelling takes center stage for an afternoon of film and conversation. Buck and the Preacher, the groundbreaking directorial debut of Sidney Poitier, who also stars as Buck, a trail guide helping formerly enslaved people find new lives in the West following the Civil War. Joined by a cunning con artist played by Harry Belafonte, the pair must overcome their differences when faced with bounty hunters threatening their group. The film challenged traditional Western narratives by centering Black characters and exploring relationships between African American and Native American communities. Chief Curator Andrew Patrick Nelson will introduce the film and lead a post-screening discussion. Rated PG with a runtime of 1 hour and 42 minutes. Admission is free for museum members or included with general admission; program-only tickets are available for $10.
