Scottsdale Symphonic Orchestra Presents "Roots and Rhythm"

This opening concert celebrates music grounded in tradition and brought to life through rhythm and energy—from the folk-inspired joy of Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 to the unmistakable American voice of Edgar Meyer.

Internationally acclaimed Violinist Sicong Chen takes center stage in Edgar Meyer’s Violin Concerto, a work that blends classical virtuosity with the unmistakable influence of American folk and jazz traditions—music that is as inventive as it is engaging.

The concert culminates in Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8, one of the most uplifting and beloved symphonies in the repertoire. Overflowing with melody and inspired by the sounds of the natural world, it is music that sings, dances, and radiates warmth.

This is the perfect way to begin the season—vibrant, inviting, and full of life.
