Happy Wednesday, Scottsdale! Here's everything worth knowing today in town.

First, today's weather:

Keep a jacket handy in the morning! Plenty of sunshine, but cool with a high of 74 and a low of 51.

Here are the top stories in Scottsdale today:

  1. Silverleaf properties are setting sales records for Arizona real estate. According to KTAR, "Scottsdale's Castle on the Hill estate sold for a near-record $21.5, the second-priciest home sale in Arizona history." The report describes the buyers as a retired California couple, now the owners of the 12,500-square foot Fratantoni designed "Castle." Reportedly, the highest-priced home sale, also a Silverleaf property, was sold for 3 million more at 24M a year ago. (KTAR.com)
  2. According to this week's City of Scottsdale Update, "Scottsdale remains at high community transmission for the 12th straight week." The report defines high transmission "as greater than 100 cases per 100,000 people... about 420 new cases over a seven-day period." On the prevention side of the virus, vaccination rates are increasing slowly. According to the release, 73.7 percent of the city's residents are vaccinated. Want to grow that number? A pop-up vaccination site will be operating from 1:30-5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14, at Eldorado Park Community Center, 2311 N. Miller Road. (Press Release Desk)
  3. Arizona Bioindustry Association (AZBio) named BioLab Sciences Inc., Bioscience Company of the Year. The regenerative biotech firm is based in Scottsdale, according to reporting in the Phoenix Business Journal. The companies recognition follows advances in wound care, including developing ways that the body can heal itself. Bob Maguire, CEO and co-founder of BioLab Sciences was quoted, "For the past three years, we've been heads down, developing leading-edge alternative therapies and building the infrastructure to support the rapidly growing demand. It's truly an honor to have that work, and our amazing team, recognized by such a renowned organization as AZBio." (Phoenix Business Journal - subscribe)
