Morning, people of Scottsdale! Geoff Campbell here with a fresh copy of the Scottsdale Daily.

First, today's weather:

Cooler today — there will be clouds and breaks of sun with a high of 76 and a low of 59.

Here are the top stories today in Scottsdale:

  1. Sky Harbor Airport Concession Workers Strike. ABC15 Arizona reporting on the matter included a statement from the concession workers union, Unite Here Local 11. "Workers are demanding a new, comprehensive contract with fair raises, affordable health insurance, a company-paid retirement contribution, protections for workers' tips, and strong contract language for equal opportunity and protection from discrimination." The strike is likely to be a week long. While HMS Host, the concessions company at the airport, claims that most bars and restaurants will remain open under contingency coverage — the report is clear — the strike may shut down your coffee sources. Reportedly, negotiations between the two parties have been ongoing since 2017. (ABC15 Arizona)
  2. According to a report from KPNX, Thanksgiving dinner in Scottsdale and metro Phoenix will cost "$49.62 [more] for an Arizona family of 10, or around $4.96 per person." The 5 percent increase is slightly better than recent inflation news. The Farm Bureau report, as seen on KPNX, ends on a hopeful comment from Arizona Farm Bureau Outreach Director Julie Murphree. "An encouraging note for Arizona shoppers is that as of this week, the turkey is also the best item to find super deals in the grocery stores one week prior to Thanksgiving." (12news.com KPNX)
  3. Does Fido Still Believe In Santa? Well, if the petals haven't fallen from that rose, Scottsdalians can get their Santa-loving pooches down to Fashion Square for a keepsake photo op, according to a report on 3TV/CBS. Santa Paws will be held from Dec. 6 - Dec. 20 from 4-8 p.m. For more information and pricing, click here. (Arizona's Family)
  4. COVID-19 Cases Are Up. KTAR is reporting official numbers that include "3,629 new COVID-19 cases and one additional death; hospitalizations, the positivity rate for testing are at their highest levels since the extreme winter spike." Reportedly the Arizona numbers have been on the rise since October. According to the report, nearly 66 percent of Arizonans eligible for the vaccine have taken it at least once. The ADHS website contains more information. (KTAR)
