Here are the top stories today in Scottsdale:

  1. Darius Amiri works for the Scottsdale-based Rose Law Group and knows about regime escape and starting over. According to the Arizona Republic, Amiri's father brought the family to the U.S. as the Shah's Iran was collapsing. It's only natural then that he is now paying it forward by helping "Afghans targeted by the Taliban making a home in the United States." Darius can't help but draw the comparisons to his path. "My dad was lucky to be able to come to the United States. And I think most people who are in the United States, whether they immigrated here or were born here, should realize how lucky they are," he said. (The Arizona Republic)
  2. Update: It was 3 a.m. on Saturday when a house party ended in gunfire. According to Fox 10 reporting, the house was previously listed on Airbnb, but access this night was gained by a former employee who had keys to the property. The reports said that SDP "identified 29-year-old Armando Sotelo-Carrillo [as the party organizer, he] is facing recommended charges of disorderly conduct and contributing to the delinquency of a minor." The shooting did not appear to be related to Carrillo but to an argument that started between two partygoers. So far, no injuries or damage have been reported, according to Fox 10. Do you know something important related to the case? Call the police tipline at 480-312-TIPS (8477). (Arizona's Family; Fox 10 News)
  3. The remarkable "Desert Dome" house is on the market for $3.75M . According to a KTAR report, "the 9,576 square-foot property sits across a five-acre lot." There are six bedrooms, seven and one-half bathrooms, an attached garage, heated pool, spa, and guesthouse. Check it out for yourself by accessing the listing. (KTAR.com).
