Here are the top stories in Scottsdale today:
- Darius has made it possible for Zabi to create a new life in Tucson. According to reporting on KPNX, Scottsdale's Rose Law group attorney Darius Amiri provided Afgan interpreter, Zabi the means by which to escape Afghanistan after the government's fall. "Zabi was at a big risk and in fear of his life. We were able to coordinate Zabi being extracted out of the crowds at the airport into U.S. custody inside the airport," said Amiri in the report. The two are connected by a third man, a friend of Amiri's who served as a Marine in-country and worked with Zabi. According to the report, "Zabi says living in Arizona is a dream come true for his fiancé and himself." The Rose Law Group is still working to free and place other would-be refugees. - "When this old world starts getting me down, and people are just too much for me to face, I climb way up to the top of the stairs, and all my cares just drift right into space." (Carole King & Gerry Goffin). Or you could add to the escape and watch a movie! According to reporting on ABC15, Arizona Harkins Theatres has created the "Moonlight Cinemas" — films such as "Goonies" and "Hocus Pocus" can be viewed on the roof deck of the parking garage next to the Camel View Cinema at Fashion Square. According to the report, the first two features, named above, will be showing Friday and Saturday, Oct. 29 and 30. (ABC15 Arizona)
- Done with the ho hum? "We are an escape room-style scavenger hunt that takes people on adventures via golf carts — located all over Old Town Scottsdale," said Katie Dufort, co-founder of Puzzle Rides, as reported in the Daily Independent. The adult-only enterprise was the brainchild of Katie and her husband Gregg, who were looking to more fully employ their tour carts during the pandemic. It works! Puzzle rides are available for two on a date or a leadership team needing to bond. (Your Valley)
