Here are the top 3 stories today in Scottsdale:
- Arizona's first new bank since 2007 is Scottsdale Community Bank (SCB). According to Phoenix Business Journal reporting, "SCB received its conditional approval in 2016 and has since been raising money as it prepared to start operations, hauling in more than $19 million over the years." After crossing the last "t" and the final "i" dotting, the bank received its state charter and joined Arizona's nine other community banks. Neill LeCorgne is the president and CEO of Scottsdale Community Bank. He said, "If Scottsdale and Arizona continue to want to expand and build and go forth further, I think you have to have the financial institutions to help support that... from our perspective, we provide that very new and innovative, very service-driven community bank." (Phoenix Business Journal - subscribe)
- Scottsdale streets may be shut down any time from 6:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16. The City of Scottsdale: Rock' N' Roll Marathons will take over the streets with, according to the race's website, a "flat and fast race that takes you through the best of Phoenix, Scottsdale, and Tempe... runners will experience the red rocks of Papago, local artists' murals, and through the downtowns of three Arizona cities." Residents are strongly encouraged to use the freeway system to avoid the marathon routes. (Press Release Desk)
- This week's Scottsdale City Update is chock full of news and information. There are service updates for the library system and senior centers. You can "find information about free vaccines, boosters, and testing for Scottsdale residents." There is a complete rundown on activities, including art shows, performances, and the Old Town Scottsdale Farmer's Market dates and times. (Press Release Desk)
