Here are the top 3 stories today in Scottsdale:

  1. Patch reporting suggests that gas prices will continue to rise locally due to events globally. "The price of crude oil rose to around $95 per barrel Monday after the price surged above $100, following Russia's attack on Ukraine on Thursday and then settled back at around $92, the association said." The report said that the sanctions imposed on Russia by the international community might cause the oil markets to raise the price because of a decrease in supply. Monday saw Arizona's prices for gas rank eight in all 50 states. (Patch)
  2. Easing masking recommendations by the CDC has had little impact on Arizona, a state that had long ago dropped mask mandates. According to Patch reporting, however, local municipalities, on the other hand, have begun to drop their masks following the new guidance. Tempe did so on Saturday. Reportedly, Maricopa County's medium risk for infection is tied, in part, to its decreasing daily case count down to 688 cases on Feb. 22. (Patch)
  3. Ninety degrees in March! According to the AZ Republic, a warming trend over the next several days caused by a high-pressure system will result in temperatures in the high 80s and perhaps low 90s. The weather service tweeted, "Phoenix has a 19 percent chance; Scottsdale a 13 percent chance; Mesa a 17 percent chance and Goodyear an 18 percent chance of reaching 90 degrees," according to the report.
