The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Scottsdale.

Hello, neighbors! Megan Moreno here with your Friday edition of the Scottsdale Patch newsletter, filled with all the things you need to know about what's going on in town. Today's issue includes...
- Two Scottsdale hotels recognized on best Arizona hotels list.
- Sip & Shop Summer Market Series at Valley Ho.
- "Arizona's Loudest Bull riding" at WestWorld.
But first, your local weather: Mostly sunny and hot today, with a high of 113 and low of 90.
Here are the top stories in Scottsdale today:
- Travel + Leisure recognized the best Arizona hotels with their "2023 World's Best Awards." Two Scottsdale hotels made the list, with Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North coming in at No. 8 and Hotel Valley Ho landing the No. 10 spot. Paradise Valley is home to several of the other hotels on the list, including The Hermosa Inn at No. 1 and Castle Hot Springs at No. 2. The honorees were selected based on feedback from approximately 165,000 readers specific to "their rooms and facilities, location, service, on-site food and overall value for the experience." (The Arizona Republic)
- Speaking of Hotel Valley Ho, consider checking out its "Sip & Shop Summer Market Series" this weekend (July 14-15) or Aug. 18-19. The event includes "a celebrity chef dinner on each of the Fridays [at 6 p.m.] and a free but ticketed indoor market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays featuring six tastings of wine, beer and spirits along with food for purchase." Chef Robert Irvine will participate in tonight's dinner, and chefs Rene "Chito" Andrade and Beau MacMillan will be featured in the August dinner. Purchase tickets and find more information here. (scottsdale.org)
- Are you a fan of heavy metal music and live bull riding, or perhaps intrigued by this pairing? Consider checking out the Big Red Bull riding & Concert at WestWorld of Scottsdale, 16601 N. Pima Road, tomorrow (July 15) at 5 p.m. During the event, "30 of the top bull riders in the southwest will be going up against some of the toughest bulls to claim the Big Red guitar and all the other cash and prizes that go along with winning." Guests can enjoy live music from Tempe's own "Ded" metal and rock band, various vendors, and onsite food and drinks. Tickets can be purchased here. (Experience Scottsdale)

From my notebook:
- "During the #DiamondFire, we used the terms 'Ready Set Go!' to communicate evacuation information. Just like the rest of the country, Scottsdale will continue to use these for emergencies like wildfire — but also for monsoon flooding, etc. Join the discussion about RSG in Speak Up Scottsdale... https://speakupscottsdale.stream.atom-inc.co/account/login" (Scottsdale Fire Department via Facebook)
- "I spy with my little eye... one library card from Scottsdale Public Library on display at Piqua Public Library! When Scottsdale Public Librarian Charles Raybourn received a request through the library's online Ask-a-Librarian form asking for library cards for their display, he was pleasantly surprised and excited to see this request from his hometown in Piqua, Ohio... In addition to Charles, Piqua's most famous celebrity is Captain Underpants." (Scottsdale Public Library via Facebook)
- "It was Shark Week at the library's Craft Together Storytime! Visit our online calendar at Scottsdale.libnet.info/events to find a program — there is something for everyone!" (Scottsdale Public Library via Facebook)
- "The City of Scottsdale offers different classes and activities to help our community learn new skills, explore their talents or improve their abilities in a variety of activities... Don't miss our NEW Adult art classes, fitness, yoga and language classes this fall. Registration for our Leisure Education Classes begins July 24 for residents and July 25 for everyone else!" (Scottsdale Parks & Recreation via Facebook)
- "Only one week remaining to apply for the 2023 Sterling Awards presented by Desert Financial Credit Union. Application deadline is July 20. Visit scottsdalechamber.com/sterlingawards for more information and to start your application process. Don't miss out on this opportunity to be a part of Scottsdale's most prestigious business awards!" (Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce via Facebook)
- "FYI: Desert landscapes only need to be watered twice per week — cactus and desert trees even less... Remember NOT to water between the hours of 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. as evaporation is too high during peak heat hours. Learn more about water conservation in Scottsdale: ScottsdaleAZ.gov/water" (City of Scottsdale - Government via Facebook)
- "Our #ChooseScottsdale featured job of the week is courtesy of Vanguard. They are looking for a Control and Audit Lead who will serve as the key contact for Control Procedure Owners across the division and will be expected to know and understand the risk and controls related to the areas that they support. https://bit.ly/3PVCR2w" (Scottsdale Economic Development via Facebook)
Now you're in the loop and ready to head out the door on this Friday! I'll see you back in your inbox tomorrow with a new update.
