Here are the top 3 stories today in Scottsdale:
- Blurry photos were released by the SPD of the accused shooter in Old Town last weekend. In the images, a man "who appears to have a gun in his hand [is standing] outside the Loyalty Lounge on Craftsman Court near Indian School and Scottsdale roads, [and is described as] a Black male of medium build with long black hair... wearing a black baseball cap, red jacket, jeans, and black shoes." The shooting left one injured and police in pursuit of the shooter. (KTAR.com)
- The gunfire sent the Glendale Fashion Center patrons running for their lives. According to U.S. News and World Report, "Five people, including a young child, were injured Wednesday when an altercation at a Phoenix area outlet mall erupted in gunfire and sent hundreds fleeing.... police said none of the victims' injuries were life-threatening." Reportedly, the Tanger Outlets incident was "an altercation between two groups of people" that turned into a fight and then a shooting, Glendale police Officer Tiffany Ngalula said. - First responders lead stressful lives. According to Arizona Family reporting, "In general [they] just hide all their emotions and push down all of their traumas and the things they've seen and just bury it," said retired firefighter Jan Collins. According to Hunkapi's Executive Director Terra Schaad, the Scottsdale-based program uses horses to teach responders to build "the coping skills for stress, understanding that their job is stressful and how to handle that, [and to build] better relationships with their spouses and their family." Collins joined Hunkapi's equine therapy program three years ago and reported that the result of working with the horses "is like having your life back like somebody gave you that gift."
