- ICYMI: Zach Haugen, a Chaparral High School Senior, and Jake Watson, a senior at Scottsdale's Desert Mountain High School, were recently honored as the winners of the Carnegie Medal, given to "those who enter extreme danger while saving or attempting to save the lives of others," according to Patch. Considered "North America's highest honor for civilian heroism," the pair received the award for saving the lives of two swimmers off on the San Diego coast on July 3, 2020.
