  1. According to Patch reporting, about "21 percent of inpatient beds and 32 percent of ICU beds statewide" were serving COVID-19 patients at the beginning of the week. As of Feb. 1, 128,500 inpatient beds were filled with COVID-19 patients. According to the piece, that's a drop of more than 20,000 beds from the prior week. 2. Scottsdale streets and sidewalks will soon be safer, according to ABC 15 reporting. The Scottsdale Police Department is ready to put thousands of dollars into play for just that purpose. "The Arizona Governor's Office of Highway Safety awarded the department two grants totaling $100,000" to educate and protect cyclists and pedestrians across the city. "It's the going out day-to-day, talking with the community, stopping people for violations, and educating them to make them safer," said Officer Steve Hash. (ABC15 Arizona)
  3. Stephanie Marie Davis, 51, and her husband, Thomas James Desharnais, 33, were taken into custody by SPD for first-degree homicide and child abuse, according to Patch. Davis is being held on a $3.5 million bail and Desharnais on a $1.5 million bail. The arrests follow the discovery of an unresponsive 11-year-old boy in a Scottsdale hotel. (Scottsdale Patch)
