Happy Tuesday, neighbors! Let's get you all caught up to start today off on an informed note.
First, today's weather:
Great weather — plenty of sunshine with a high of 78, and a low of 57.
Here are the top stories in Scottsdale today:
- Described as a fiery crash in reporting by ABC15 News, the accident occurred on Route 101 and Hyden Road in Scottsdale. Multiple cars and a motorcycle were involved, and the crash is being investigated. One death was reported. According to the report, following the initial collision, cars were ablaze — there is no apparent information available regarding the victims. (ABC15)
- Canal Convergence, Nov. 5-14, a premiere Scottsdale Waterfront Event, will return in person this year with unique modalities for patron interaction. According to Reporting in the Paradise Valley Independent, Jennifer Gill, the manager of Scottsdale Public Art, said, "Technology has been an integral part of making Canal Convergence possible with its lights-based and interactive installations." This year's Convergence of local artists takes place at the same time as the annual CODA Summit. According to the Coda Summit web page, "CODA Summit is the only conference focused on the exciting ways creative professionals are incorporating technology to create artwork installations that are changing the ways we experience our environments." (Your Valley)
- Robert Sutz is a gifted portraitist living and working in Scottsdale. Featured in the series, Faces of Arizona, many of his subjects are Holocaust survivors, including members of Schindler's list, according to reporting on AZ Central. His background in the arts is both wide and deep and his connection to the Holocaust includes the loss of all but one of his extended family of 14 who lived in Poland at the time. The 91-year-old Sutz has been painting survivors for the past 20 years as a way to "preserve testimonies of survivors and witnesses of the Holocaust" and memorialize his family members.
