Here are the top 3 stories today in Scottsdale:

  1. The remains of Najib "Jubi" Monsif, missing since Sept. 23, have been found, according to Patch reporting. The article explains that the Scottsdale Police Department (SDP) "found [Jubi's body] at a canal pump station near Power Road and Red Mountain Loop 202." According to the report, the SDP crime lab confirmed the identification and determined that foul play was not indicated. Najib Monsif Sr., Jubi's father, shared the following message on Facebook after police notified him: "Jubi's birthday is the 22nd of December. This day was always the happiest day of the year for the Monsif family for the past 20 years. Yesterday Scottsdale police informed us that Jubi's remains were found in the canal. Our angel was only 20 years old. Thank you for your love." (Patch)
  2. Major valley health care providers are restricting non-emergency surgeries in light of rising COVID-19 cases. According to AZ Family, space is at a premium, and patients are waiting for a room in a crowded ER. "This continues to put a strain on our resources within the health systems and necessitate that we make some changes," said Dr. Michael White, the chief clinical officer for Valleywise Health. According to the report, COVID-19 patients make up 40 percent of the occupancy of ICUs in the state. Dignity and Honor Health are making similar moves, according to the reporting. (Arizona's Family)
  3. The Old Town Ambassadors are back! According to a report in the Scottsdale Independent, you will once again see Ambassadors "donning an orange polo shirt and bright smile situated next to a cart filled with brochures for attractions in the area." Nearly 100 are placed throughout Old Town, giving visitors and locals alike information and directions. Joy Racine, manager of the program, explained. "It started out as just the carts, and we've just added a lot more components to it and grew the program," according to the report. (Your Valley)
