Here are the top stories in Scottsdale today:

  1. Scottsdale was recently granted membership to the Organization of World Heritage Cities, joining "an elite group of more than 200 cities from around the world" that participate in "international efforts to protect and preserve the heritage of mankind." Taliesin West, Frank Lloyd Wright's laboratory and desert home, was recognized with this designation as a "natural and cultural" site that "demonstrates significance and influence on a global scale." This designation elevates Scottsdale's status as a "renowned destination where art, architecture and design are not only experienced, but created and celebrated!" (City of Scottsdale)
  2. Élephante, a California-based upscale Italian restaurant, is coming to Scottsdale Fashion Square! Guests can expect family-style dishes, fresh pastas, grilled meat and seafood options, and wood-fired pizzas. This addition is part of the ongoing redevelopment of the south wing of Fashion Square. (Free: KTAR News, Subscription: The Business Journals)
  3. The Scottsdale Police Department is seeking input from the public for its reaccreditation. Specifically, public feedback is needed about the department's "ability to comply with the standards for accreditation, engagement in the service community, delivery of public safety services and overall candidacy for accredited status." Feedback can be provided via the CALEA Public Comment Portal. (City of Scottsdale)
